Since their origins in 2022, Toasty FC quickly established itself as a top contender within the Bowling Green Futsal (BGF) league - Division B.
BGF was established in 2011, and has long been a premier futsal league in Bowling Green, KY. Comprised of roughly 20 teams divided into 2 divisions, teams consist of players of all ages from 16 to 40+. Toasty FC has thrived in the B Division, and has toyed with the idea of bumping up into the A Division. However, being one of the older teams in the league - with an average age of 33 - remaining in the B Division is Toasty's plan for now. But who knows what the future holds?
Fun Fact: Toasty FC has advanced to the BGF playoffs every year since their establishment, and even winning the Division B Championship in the Spring of 2023!
Toasty FC originally started by Austin Greer - a seasoned veteran of the BGF league. After bouncing around between 3 or 4 different BGF teams over the years, he broke off to start his own squad. While his first attempt with "Rockys FC" saw 2 back-to-back seasons of last place finishes in the B-Division, an fresh start was much needed.
Following the Leagues return from the Covid Pandemic in 2021, Austin was in talks with Goran Omerdic - who suggested they both start another squad. Between the two, a brand new squad emerged via recruiting old friends and soccer players around Bowling Green, KY. A much more competitive squad emerged, and within the first year of Toasty's inception, Toasty FC would go on to win the BGF 2023 Spring Season Championship!
Toasty FC continues to chase that success again, and will return to the BGF this year! So keep an eye on our socials to follow the journey.
Many often ask "Where did the name Toasty FC come from?"
Simple answer - Mortal Kombat.
The longer story is that when registering for a team in the BGF, Austin did not have a name ready when filing the paperwork. Being a fan of the Mortal Kombat franchise - and the "Toasty" easter egg - it's what first came to mind, and the rest is history!
